If you are involved in contests of speed then you know the importance of maximizing power output from your engine. But you also know that in order to win a race, you must finish that race. The engine will continue to run after PREP Spark Plugs have vented, but at reduced output. This could cost you a race.

If the value of the race exceeds the value of the engine, then you should consider using PREP Spark Plugs only as a tuning tool, or as we call them "Monday through Saturday" spark plugs. Once tuning is complete and you have established the engine operating parameters which maximize power output without detonation, use those settings and Go Racing. After tuning with PREP Spark Plugs and installing ordinary spark plugs your engine will not suffer performance losses from venting spark plugs; though your engine will once again be vulnerable to the effects of detonation. You may be well advised to choose to use ordinary spark plugs in racing events.

As racers, our ability to advance in competition depends upon our ability to finish races. Our reputations, and those of our manufacturers and sponsors, are on the line each time the green flag is displayed; it does not end until the checkered flag flies. PREP Spark Plugs can prevent you from being on the trailer too soon, because engine failure will not catastrophically retire your campaign too soon.
